FAQ
How are words counted?
The same way as the word count in Microsoft Word: every English word or number counts as one word, and every Chinese character (including Chinese punctuation) counts as one. The separate tiles show Chinese characters, English words and punctuation on their own.
Why is my count a little different from Word's?
Most texts match exactly. Small differences usually come from special symbols, such as curly quotes or dashes, which Word counts as Chinese characters only when they use a Chinese font.
What's the difference between the two character counts?
“Characters” includes spaces and tabs; “Characters (no spaces)” counts only visible characters. Line breaks are not counted, just like in Word.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Everything is counted in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
