How to write amounts on reimbursement forms and cheques
- Use the financial numerals 零 壹 贰 叁 肆 伍 陆 柒 捌 玖 拾 佰 仟 万 亿 元 角 分 整 (正). Ordinary numerals such as 一, 二, 十, 廿, 毛, 另 or 〇 are not accepted.
- Write 人民币 right before the amount with no gap. If the form already has 人民币 printed, start the amount right after it.
- End with 整 (or 正) when the amount stops at yuan (元). After jiao (角) 整 is optional; after fen (分) it is never written.
- Write 零 for a zero between digits, and only one 零 for several zeros in a row: ¥6,007.14 is 陆仟零柒元壹角肆分.
- If jiao is 0 but fen is not, 零 must follow 元: ¥325.04 is 叁佰贰拾伍元零肆分.
- Write 10–19 as 壹拾…; the 壹 before 拾 can't be left out: ¥15.00 is 壹拾伍元整.
- Put the ¥ sign right before the amount in figures with no gap, and write the digits clearly.

FAQ
What are Chinese capital numerals?
Forms of the numbers that are hard to alter (壹 instead of 一, 贰 instead of 二, and so on). Chinese invoices, reimbursement forms, contracts and cheques require the amount written this way next to the figures.
When is 整 added?
When the amount ends at whole yuan, e.g. ¥1,000.00 is 壹仟元整. It's optional when the amount ends at jiao and never written when there are fen: ¥1,409.50 is 壹仟肆佰零玖元伍角.
How are zeros written?
A zero between digits becomes 零, and several zeros in a row become a single 零: ¥6,007.14 is 陆仟零柒元壹角肆分. If jiao is 0 but fen is not, 零 follows 元: ¥16,409.02 is 壹万陆仟肆佰零玖元零贰分.
Do I need to write 人民币?
Most reimbursement forms and cheques already print 人民币, so just write the amount after it. If yours doesn't, tick “Start with 人民币” and copy the full version.
