FAQ
How accurate are the seal forms?
They come from Academia Sinica's Chong Xi Small Seal typeface, which follows the seal forms of the Shuowen Jiezi and covers about 11,600 characters. Forms differ between historical sources, so check a seal-script dictionary before carving or formal work.
Why are some characters grey?
They have no seal form, usually because they were created after the Han dynasty (chemistry characters, for example). They are drawn in regular script and listed under the preview.
Can I type simplified Chinese?
Yes. It is converted to traditional characters for the lookup, and the labels still show what you typed.
Can I use it for a personal seal (chop)?
Yes, the SVG works well as a design reference for a personal name seal. Don't use it to imitate official or company seals.
